This week Sean Davis, better known by moniker theHalfStyle, released his remix to Swedish pop act Urban Cone’s Old School.

“When I first heard Urban Cone’s Old School I instantly knew that I needed to remix it, after years of working on secret projects it felt like the right track to resurface with while also doing my favorite thing in the world, remixing. The original concept for my remix was “the 70s meets Future Bass,” which falls in line with a lot of my forthcoming work. Somewhere around having Matt Huber redo some guitar parts, I dropped my Future Bass fantasy and went full Powerpop, because at the end of the day this is a love song and there was no gimmickry or drop that I wanted to add, that would change the reason why I love the song.Davis told press from his studio in New York.

Earlier this year theHalfStyle produced the entire 41 minutes sound work for Mass MoCA Exhibit: Read the full piece on the installation in Massachusetts here.
